What Goes Into a 313 Glass Composite Door

GRP Outer Skin
A 2mm glass-reinforced plastic skin is moulded directly from a real timber door, giving you authentic woodgrain texture without the maintenance. GRP doesn't absorb water, won't rot, swell, warp or split, and is colour-stable under UV.
Solid Insulating Core
Between the two GRP skins sits a high-density polyurethane (PU) foam core, typically 48mm thick. PU is one of the best-performing thermal insulators available and gives the door its solid, weighty feel — typically 40–50% heavier than a standard uPVC door.
Reinforced Sub-Frame
A hardwood or LVL (laminated veneer lumber) timber sub-frame around the perimeter takes the load of the hinges and locks. This is the part that screws and multi-point locking gear bite into — critical for long-term security performance.
uPVC or Aluminium Outer Frame
The door slab sits inside a multi-chamber uPVC or thermally broken aluminium outer frame with co-extruded EPDM weather seals on three planes. This is what gets fixed into your brickwork and creates the airtight, watertight seal around the opening.
Multi-Point Locking Gear
Typically a 3-point or 5-point hookbolt and deadbolt mechanism running the full height of the door, paired with a TS007 3-star anti-snap, anti-bump, anti-pick cylinder. This is the same hardware specification accepted by all major UK insurers.

Any glazed sections use Kitemarked toughened (Class 1C) or laminated safety glass as standard, bonded into the door for additional rigidity. Decorative glass is sealed inside the double-glazed unit, so it never needs cleaning.
