Bespoke Doors: Glass, Composite and Bi-Fold

Front doors and glass doors built to the real size of your opening, not squeezed into a stock frame.

What a bespoke door means here

A bespoke door is one made to the measured size of your opening and specified to suit the house, rather than picked from a fixed catalogue of widths. With 313 Glass that covers composite front doors, uPVC front and French doors, and aluminium bi-folding and sliding glass doors. Every door is made to measure after a free survey, so the frame fits the brickwork instead of relying on thick trims to hide a gap.

People searching for bespoke glass doors are usually thinking about the back of the house: a wide opening onto a garden, a new extension, or a kitchen that needs more daylight. People searching for a bespoke front door are more often thinking about kerb appeal, security and draughts. The same approach applies to both, but the product choice is different, so it is worth separating the two.

Bespoke glass doors for gardens and extensions

For large glazed openings we fit aluminium bi-folding doors and aluminium sliding doors. Aluminium is used here because a slim, strong frame can carry big panes of glass, which keeps sightlines narrow and lets more light in. Our windows are uPVC, but for these door types aluminium is the right material.

Bi-folding doors suit people who want the whole opening cleared in summer, with panels stacking neatly to one side. Sliding doors suit people who would rather have fewer, larger panes and a view that stays open even when the doors are shut. The number of panels, which way they open, the threshold and the frame colour are all decided around your space at the survey. Our bi-fold versus sliding guide goes through the trade-offs in more detail.

If you prefer a more traditional look, uPVC French doors are a good fit for a smaller opening, with a pair of doors that open fully outwards or inwards.

    Bespoke composite front doors

Composite doors are one of our priority products. A composite door has a solid core behind a tough outer skin, which gives it weight and rigidity, and it is fitted with multi-point locking. Being made to measure matters with front doors because an old opening is rarely perfectly square, and a door that is built to the true size closes properly and seals against the weather.

The design is where bespoke becomes personal: door style, colour, glazing panels, side panels or a top light, and hardware finish. We can help you narrow the choice at the survey so the door suits the age and style of the property rather than simply matching whatever was there before.

    How the process works

It starts with a free survey, where we measure the opening, look at the lintel and sill, and talk through styles and options. You then receive a written quotation for the door as specified. Once you are happy, the door is manufactured to those measurements, and our FENSA and CERTASS registered fitters install it and deal with the compliance paperwork.

Because each door is built to order, the measurements taken at survey are the ones that count. That is one reason we measure rather than working from a figure you have taken yourself. Our guide to bespoke lead times explains how long each stage tends to take.

    Choosing between the options

If the opening is at the front and the priorities are security and appearance, a composite door is usually the starting point. If the opening is at the back and the priority is light and access to the garden, look at aluminium bi-folding or sliding doors. If budget or style points towards something simpler, uPVC front or French doors are worth comparing. Where the choice is not obvious, we can show the options side by side at the survey.

Finance is available on our installations, and we are FCA registered, so you can spread the cost if that helps. Our finance page sets out how it works.
