Double Glazing Prices: What Affects Your Quote

The honest answer to 'how much?' is 'it depends', so here is exactly what it depends on.

How we arrive at a figure

We price double glazing window by window from the survey measurements. There is no fixed price per window because a small bathroom casement and a wide lounge window with three openers are very different jobs. What follows is the list of things that move the total, so you can see where your money goes before we visit.

    Number, size and layout

More windows means more frames, but size and layout matter as much as count. A wide frame split into several lights, with more than one opener, uses more profile and hardware than a single fixed pane of the same area.

    Style of window

Casements are the most common and usually the most economical. Tilt and turn, bay and bow, and shaped bespoke frames involve more complex hardware, joints or manufacturing, and are priced accordingly.

    Glass specification

Standard sealed units are the baseline. Upgrades such as Planibel A low-emissivity glass, obscure glass for bathrooms, toughened or laminated glass where safety rules require it, and decorative options each change the unit cost.

    Colour and finish

White uPVC is the base finish. Woodgrain and colour foils, and especially a different finish on each side, add to the frame cost.

    The openings themselves

Access to upper floors, the condition of sills and reveals, and anything structural such as a bay that needs support are all checked at the free survey and reflected in the quote. Fitting by FENSA and CERTASS registered installers, the certificate and removal of the old frames are part of the job, not extras.

    Paying for it

Finance is available through our FCA-authorised arrangement (FCA 1055332) if you would rather spread the cost. For more on uPVC window costs and what makes one quote differ from another, see the guides below.

    Comparing quotes fairly

When you compare quotes, check that they describe the same thing: the same number of windows and openers, the same glass, the same colour on each face, and the same inclusions such as removal of old frames, making good and certification. A lower figure that leaves out the certificate or uses a basic unit is not a like-for-like saving. We itemise our quotation window by window so it is easy to line up against anyone else's.

    Common questions

    Is the survey really free?
Yes. We measure, advise and quote with no obligation.
Do you offer windows in materials other than uPVC?
No. All the windows we supply are uPVC.
